Rotate 90 degrees and flip horizontal

Use this page to rotate an image 90 or 180 degrees, or to flip it. Phones write an orientation flag. Some programs listen. Some show the photo on its side. Rotating in this tab draws the image the way you want it and encodes that. The download should look the same in a dumb previewer.
90 and 270 swap width and height. 180 does not. Flip horizontal is the mirror you want for a screenshot of a phone that was filmed through glass; flip vertical is rare and usually a mistake. Custom 0 degrees with a flip is how you mirror without turning.
Re-encoding a JPEG is not lossless. Use quality 90 unless the file is a throwaway. If you also need it smaller, rotate first, then compress. Crops after a rotation should use the new upright frame on crop image.
Rotate 90 degrees vs CSS transform
A transform in the browser does not fix the file you attach to an email or drop in a CMS. Bake the pixels here when the next stop is not a page you style.
/* Fine for a preview you control. Useless for a JPEG you attach. */
.preview.is-sideways { transform: rotate(90deg); }<img src="shot-upright.jpg" alt="Camera on a walnut desk"

Why rotate the pixels instead of EXIF orientation?
Plenty of software ignores orientation flags. Pixels that are already upright survive CMSs, email, and old viewers.
Will rotate image fix a sideways phone photo?
Modern browsers honor EXIF when loading, so what you see may already be upright. If a downstream app still shows it on its side, rotate here and re-save so the pixels match what you see.
Is JPEG rotate lossless?
Not here. Re-encoding a JPEG is not lossless. Use quality 90 unless the file is a throwaway. Rotate first, then compress if you also need it smaller.
When should I flip an image horizontal?
When you need a mirror: a screenshot filmed through glass, or a face that should look the other way. Flip vertical is rare and usually a mistake.
Does rotate 90 degrees swap width and height?
Yes. 270 does too. 180 does not. Check the result list before you drop the file into a slot that expected the old aspect.
Can I rotate a batch of images?
Yes. Same angle and flips on every file you drop. Check one download if the set matters.
